Jack be nimble,
Jack be quick,
Jack jump over the candlestick.
Jack jumped high,
Jack jumped low,
Jack jumped over and burned his toe.
History:
A custom holds that the Jack be Nimble nursery rhyme refers to the Yellow Fever, which was supposed to be kept back at bay by fire. Candles would be put at the bedsides of kids to keep the fever away. Jack Be Nimble is a nursery school rhyme. Suggestions concerning its origins are: it is connected to a wedding service; it celebrates the escapes of a pirate; or it is regarding a spiritual option which could have led to burning at the stake.
