One, two, buckle my shoe
Three, four, shut the door
Five, six, pick up sticks
Seven, eight, lay them straight
Nine, ten, a big fat hen
Eleven, twelve, men must delve
Thirteen, fourteen, maids are courting
Fifteen, sixteen, maids in the kitchen
Seventeen, eighteen, maids in waiting
Nineteen, twenty, my plate's empty
History:
A segment of this kindergarten poem appears in the words of the Korn song "Shoots and Ladders" of their introduction album, along with additional nursery rhymes. The song was meant as a ridicule of the dreaded history and genesis of a few of the kindergarten rhymes present in the song, as well as the name which mocks that of the board amusement Chutes and Ladders, also well-known as Snakes and Ladders.
